The Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront Course, built in 1967, is one of three golf courses at the Palmetto Dunes Resort on Hilton Head Island.
The Oceanfront Course is a much different test versus the other two golf courses at Palmetto Dunes. It's longer (7,005 yards) and more wide open from the tee than the shorter Arthur Hills course and par-70 George Fazio course, and it is also the only course that plays right up to the doorstep of the ocean.
Roger Rulewich, a protégé of Robert Trent Jones who receives much of the credit for Jones' later designs, helped restore this classic Hilton Head golf course to a 21st century gem. Golfers will notice many of the trimmings of a Jones signature: large, splashed bunkering, raised green complexes and long, square tee boxes.
