The Robert Trent Jones course at Palmetto Dunes Resort is the oldest of the courses at the resort, but still one of the most cherished and it just had its 40th birthday in 2009.
The tree-lined course is pure Jones: Calm and easy where good shots are rewarded and bad ones are punished - just not too much as compared with some other courses.
"The championship tee yardage of 7,005 yards with slope of 135 accurately depicts what you'll face -- a mid-level golf course that sets up well for some scoring opportunities, but will also leave you with high numbers if you're not careful," said TravelGolf.com writer Jeffrey A. Rendell.
With just a few forced carries, the RTJ Course is one where a good golfer can thrive, and a not-so-good golfer will at least have the benefit of as pleasant a course as there is this side of the Mississippi.
