Ever-present water and sand keep play interesting but never penalizing. Golfers will find the course puts a premium on strategy and finesse, rather than sheer power. Golden Bear Golf Club plays fairly flat at just more than 7,000 yards from the tips, giving golfers plenty of opportunities to let their drivers rip. But with plenty of ponds and marshes, lost balls should be expected.

Winding through a beautiful landscape of oak and pine woodlands, Golden Bear Golf Club is a fitting complement to the prestigious residential community of Indigo Run.

My wife and I have been coming to Hilton Head for 12 years. I have played numerous courses. The first time I played Golden Bear I loved it. It quickly become one of my favorites. However, last week I played the front nine and the course was in terrible condition. The sand traps were pathetic...like playing out of clay. Golf courses in TN where we live are in better condition. The course was very dry and hard as a rock. The driving range is in better condition than the golf course. Also, they charged me a twilight after three o'clock of $55 dollars. My wife rode along in the golf cart....she does not play golf. They charged us $15 for her to ride in the golf cart. The next day I played the Ocean Course at Palmento Dunes. Twilight rate of $45 for 10 holes of golf. They did not charge us for my wife to ride in the cart. The golf course was in awesome shape...very green and the sand traps had white fluffy sand. Excellent course condition. I will not be going back to the Golden Bear at Indigo Run ever.

A wonderful course with magnificent wildlife. We saw alligators, eagles and even a couple of albatrosses!

Although we struggled to find the course somewhat (due to my orientation skills) and came a bit late, the staff found place for us and were really friendly.

Good greens and greatly shaped holes. We'll be back!
