Veteran course designer Clyde Johnston took what was once a horse farm and created a stellar, difficult course that has had players and critics in agreement to its quality.
Featuring gently rolling hills, marsh, water and other hazards, Old Carolina Golf Club in Buffton comes in with a whopping 145-slope rating, making it one of the toughest tests in the Hilton Head area.
Holes No. 9, and No. 18, are the standout holes, each playing over and around a lake. Not surprisingly, these two holes are also the toughest on the course. Most of the greens are well-bunkered, making your approach shot that much more important.
